Kaseberg Returns to The Gorge with A Few Friends

Group Exhibition features twelve Diverse Artists

Returning to the Columbia River Gorge for an exhibition at The Dalles Art Center, Cameron Kaseberg wanted to bring some artist friends along. Cameron Kaseberg and Friends features the work of Cameron and eleven accomplished Central Oregon artists working in a variety of mediums. The exhibit runs June 2 through June 27 at The Dalles Art Center with an artist’s reception June 4th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Featured last season on OPB’s Oregon Art Beat (Kaseberg Story), Kaseberg is known for pushing, playing with and refining the art of solvent transfer.  An exploration of the process brought to prominence in the 1950s by Robert Rauschenberg, the process involves borrowing inks from various printed media as well as his own photos and graphics, chemically dissolving them and transferring the image onto a new surface. Much as a photographer can manipulate the camera image in many ways, the solvent transfer can be changed, arranged, composed and continually altered to express the artist's aims. In northwest regional exhibits and at national art fairs, his works have been received with enthusiasm for their inventiveness and as expressions of human sensibilities.

Kaseberg’s friends, also known as the High Desert Art League, are all accomplished artists whose works can be found in collections across the globe. “I am so pleased to call these incredible artists my friends,” said Cameron. “It is truly amazing company to keep; arts educators, award winners, world travelers, designers, and just plain really nice people,” he added.

The artists joining Kaseberg exhibit a wide range of talents in various media. Cindy Briggspaints with serendipity—splattering, mixing and mingling watercolors right on the paper to create her luminous paintings. Helen Brown enjoys the spontaneity of watercolor and delves into perspective and dramatic light. Patricia Clark, founder of Bend’s Atelier 6000 printmaking studio, is an established Master Printmaker and nationally respected teacher who intermixes her appreciation of nature and landscape to create artwork. RichardFrederick is an award-winning photographer who has been combining his passion for science and photography for over 30 years. David Kinker is a painter, muralist and teacher combining his studies in art history, architecture, world myth and the sciences to create timeless works of art. Jacqueline Newbold’s journeys give her a never-ending source of inspiration for her watercolors. She is an author (Cloth-Paper-Scissors Magazine, Watercolor Journeys) and arts educator. Vivian Olsen works in a variety of mediums and is often inspired to paint the wild animals and birds she encounters while walking through the mountains and high desert of central Oregon.  Janice Rhodes is a pastel artist with a fondness for Encaustics concentrating on figures, animals and florals. Barbara Slater paints in oils with energy and spirit. Her pigmentation is rich and succulent. Her brushwork is bold and responsive bringing her work in still life, florals, landscapes and animals to life. Joren Travellerbrings together her background in microbiology, animal science and the equestrian world to create beguiling sculptures that express the character she sees in each individual creature. ShellyWierzba grew up surrounded by the arts and uses oil, acrylic, and watercolor mediums to focus on the central Oregon landscape and the human figure.

Cameron Kaseberg and Friends, an exhibition of work by the High Desert Art League runs June 2 through June 27 at The Dalles Art Center, 220 East Fourth St., The Dalles, Oregon. Many of the artists will be attending the Artist Reception June 4 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

Central Oregon "I Am Oregon" winner Patricia Clark!

Congratulations to our Central Oregon "I Am Oregon" winner Patricia Clark!

The Meyer Memorial Trust is creating a network of community-minded people to connect them and support them through capacity building. I am Oregon is the first step in building this network. Learn more about the impetus behind I am Oregon and Oregon Unlimited at http://www.mmt.org/blog/who-oregon-iamoregon.org. Hundreds of unsung heroes were nominated through the I Am Oregon campaign—1,235 of your neighbors, friends and community minded individuals who are creating change in communities across the state.

Along the way I Am Oregon regional finalists were honored and votes were cast for the outstanding civic leaders who will represent Our region at the 2013 National Conference on Volunteering and Service in Washington DC in June. These reps will then bring insight back to share with your community through Oregon Unlimited.

Pat is a member of the High Desert Art League and at the center of the arts community in Central Oregon. Moving to Bend in 2005, she founded Atelier 6000, a fully professional printmaking studio and collaborative space for artists at every level. Through networking with other community leaders, Pat is engaging in the future of Bend's art scene and how it can expand to include more and more of the population.
