Barbara Slater Supporting Equine Outreach

As a part of The Barb's Are Back celebration at Bend's Desperado Contemporary & Nostalgic Western Store, Barbara Slater will be lending her art to benefit Equine Outreach. Equine Outreach facilitates the rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, and permanent placement of abused, and neglected horses in Deschutes County and Central Oregon. Their goal is to promote equine awareness and to foster community compassion for responsible horse guardianship.

An Evening to Benefit Equine Outreach features Barbara's amazing work at Desperado in The Old Mill District on December 6th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A raffle with all proceeds going to Equine Outreach will allow one lucky winner to take home a Barbara Slater original valued at $800. Raffle tickets are $10 each or three (3) for $25. The winner will be announced on December 31st. Pick up your raffle tickets, view Barbara's new work and shop Desperado. 10% Of all sales during the event will be donated to Equine outreach.

Painting oils with energy and spirit, this artist’s pigmentation is rich and succulent, while her brushwork is bold and responsive. Barbara continues her studies with different genres, painting still-lifes, florals, landscapes and animals. Animals are her present focus with images of vibrant roosters, horses, cows and other barnyard residents. Painting these rural inhabitants with love and respect, Barbara gives each animal an attitude and personality.

A member of the Oil Painters of America, the California Art Club and the High Desert Art League, Barbara is represented by galleries in Utah and Oregon and has collectors throughout the United States. Barbara had a thirty five year career in education. She was also a children’s book illustrator and an advertising and graphic design artist.

Art is Barbara Slater’s breath and passion. “I believe that an artist’s final work is a depiction of his or her impressions—emotionally, physically, intellectually and above all, artistically.”
